SAN FRANCISCO--Dr.Aurthur Ting whose been noted for his silence since the BALCO investigation stood fast with no comments to the media on Friday who wanted to know what he knew regarding any positive steroid plasma and other information relating to any DNA evidence which may have been positive when former Giant slugger Barry Bonds was under Ting's care when he had knee surgery before the 2007 season a season when Bonds eclipsed Hank Aaron as the all time home run leader.
Bonds who had successful minor hip surgery on Friday was operated on by Ting is expected to be back in playing condition by March spring training if he can latch onto a big league team. Bonds said that if he could get on a big league roster he would be able bodied to play again. Bonds sat out the entire 2008 season due to what Bonds agent Jeff Borris said was "collusion" and said that MLB made sure no one signed the game's home run king and as Borris put it on good documented evidence from as high as the Commissioner's office.
Bonds wants to try his hand again at playing in the show but said "I had fun, I enjoy my freedom" to TMZ.com a celebrity website if he couldn't latch on again. Bonds whose facing a steroids trial for as much as ten perjury counts on March 2nd and his other team of attorneys are preparing to sue MLB for collusion is not talking about his hip surgery and neither is Borris or Ting.
Bonds recovery schedule is at six weeks plus therapy. Ting was asked by the press about how the surgery went and what physical therapy was needed to get Bonds on track Ting did not answer. Ting was also asked about appearing at the BALCO trial in March and abruptly ended the interview.
Bonds had expressed that he enjoyed his time in baseball but enjoys his privacy away from the game and the reporters. Bonds knows that there will be a barrage of reporters waiting for him on March 2nd at the beginning of the trial but would not comment on that.
Bonds is resting comfortably after Friday's surgery and there has been no report as to which Hospital Dr.Ting performed the surgery but a source said it was in the Los Angeles area near Bonds home in Beverly Hills.
Joe Cronin and Ken Gimblin are covering the Barry Bonds/steroids perjury trial which starts Monday March 2, 2009 for Sportstalk Radio.
