A video tape at the night club might have some detail as to who the late Denver corner back Darrent Williams' shooter or shooters might be. If Williams’ fellow passengers can identify any of the night club goers who traded 'taunts' with Williams’ fellow passengers on New Years Eve it might prove helpful to Denver PD.

Williams was who was shot once in the neck according to Denver Chief Medical Examiner Robert Whitmore, which killed Williams instantly. Several 49ers remembered shaking Williams hand after the Sunday afternoon game in which the 49ers defeated the Broncos in overtime after a Joe Nedney field goal kick in the 26-23 Niners victory.

Police are planning to ask the passengers in the limo which included the Broncos Javon Walker, if they can remember the discussions between the people that had a dispute with the passengers. Apparently taunts were traded at the New Years Eve party at the Night Club called 'the Shelter' in downtown Denver. It was also a birthday celebration for Denver Nugget Kenyon Martin, who was reportedly very shaken up about Sunday night's news and the Nuggets had canceled their practice on Monday.

With the Niners victory it eliminated the Broncos from playoff contention but the feeling around the Santa Clara Facility on Monday, while players were clearing out their lockers was subdued. Not much talking and you almost forgot the 49ers won the ball game on Sunday.

Meanwhile Denver Police are seeking the help of witnesses particularly the passengers in the Limo for a description of the party they had a dispute with.

Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson (no relation to former S.F. Giants coach) said that witnesses reported that there was a verbal dispute and that there was no physical altercation between the parties. Apparently the shooters followed the limo and shot out one of the driver’s side back windows with bullet spray instantly killing Williams.

Williams former high school coach at Fort Worth Texas Anthony Criss said of Williams on Monday, "When he was younger he always gravitated to the wrong crowd, “said Criss. “I remember he went to church and the minister was talking to him about needing to pray and stop hanging around the wrong people, and he started straightening up and doing the right thing.”

Williams is the latest active NFL player to die, and the last was the 49ers Thomas Herrion who collapsed due to heat exhaustion after a pre season game in Denver on August 20, 2005. Herrion was 23 and Williams was 24.
