Sacramento, CA – Former All-Pro and Pro Bowl NFL Quarterback, Daunte Culpepper ended weeks of tepid speculation by signing with the Mountain Lions on Monday. Culpepper joins his former Head Coach Dennis Green who had selected the QB with the 11th pick of the 1999 NFL Draft for the Minnesota Vikings. Culpepper also had stints with the Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders and Detroit Lions, but had his best years of his career with Green in Minnesota.

Signing with the Mountain Lions, Culpepper is also reunited with Mike Kruczek, his Head Coach when he played for the University of Central Florida. Kruczek is the Lions’ Offensive Coordinator.

“My goal for this year was to get on the field and play football,” said Culpepper, whose signing comes less than a week after drafting Quarterback Justin Goltz with their first pick of the 2010 UFL Draft. Goltz, who was on the training squad for the Detroit Lions last season certainly doesn’t have the stats to match up with Culpeppers’ 24,153 career passing yards and 149 NFL touchdowns.

Culpepper will be announced at a press conference on Wednesday and will be on the field with the team for Thursday’s mini-camp. Interested fans are invited to come out this Saturday to Grant Union High School at 10am to watch last day of mini-camp.
