This Monday morning the Sacramento Kings part ways with Reggie Head Coach Theus.
Theus, 38-44 last season and 6-18 this year, was caught in the string of NBA coaches to be fired. Reggie was the eighth.
This 08-09 season was hard on the team. They didn't always show up to play hard.
Defense was a word that not all players were familiar with.
Reggie was inexperienced at dealing with NBA players, each of whom makes more money than the coach.
Assistant coach Kenny Natt now takes over.
Just by looking at the situation as it happened, you have to think that Theus no longer commanded the respect of the players. Also, the injury to Kevin Martin could have cost the team a few games.
Arguably, trading Ron Artest in the past off-season didn't help. Artest played both offense and defense, and this team misses a defensive side.
Looking for a new coach in the off-season is not so appetizing, either. Will money be a consideration, or will the Kings go after the best one out there.
