The Sacramento Kings rolled over the hapless-on-the-road Washington Wizards
by a score of 116-91. It felt good to end the Kings eight game losing streak.
Six Kings scored in double figures. Beno Udrih led with 23, Jason Thompson
had 22, Pooh Jeter that's Jet-ter, not Jee-ter had 13 together with nine
assists, Omri Casspi and Donte Greene each had 12, and DeMarcus Cousins
added 10.
Sacramento outrebounded Washington 48 to 36, in assists 27 to 11, and out shot
the Wizards 54 per cent to 41 per cent.
Oh yes, last night they lost to the Lakers 115-108. The Wizards have not won
on the road this season. And tonight they were without rookie phenom John Wall,
Josh Howard, and Andrey Blatche.
But never mind, it was still a great win for the Kings, and the 12,308 left
happy. Another reason for joy - it was the 2,000 game broadcast by Gary Gerould.
Halftime was devoted to the tribute to Gary, who recalled his boyhood in
Midland, Michigan when his father first took him to a pro basketball game.
Does that mean the troubles are over in River City? Well, the Miami Heat visit
Arco on Saturday. The Heat are loaded and we'll see how the very young Kings
handle that situation.
