The Sacramento Kings lost in Newark to the New Jersey Nets by a 106-100 score. The Kings spent the first three quarters chipping away at an 18 point Nets second quarter lead to go up 77-76 entering the final quarter.

In fact, the Kings had an 8 point lead with just over three minutes remaining. But then JaMarcus Cousins fouled out and Kings' shots quit dropping. The Nets led 98-97 with 1:10 left. The Kings closed to 102-100 with 30 seconds left, but the final score was 106-100.

As Coach Paul Westphal said, 'We had a chance to win the game. We fouled too much. We played hard but we didn't execute when we had to. We didn't put them away. And lots of shots went in and out.'

The Nets had 27 turnovers but still won the game. Brook Lopez schooled DeMarcus Cousins in the pivot, scoring 29 points. Devon Harris had 21.

The Kings foul shooting was 65 per cent.

Tomorrow the Kings play in Cleveland.
