The Sacramento Kings were hoping that playing at home would be the good way to snap a six game losing streak. After going 0-5 on the previous road trip the Kings were hoping that familiar territory would be a spring board to get off the schneid and works towards finishing the season on a high note. The Blazers had a different idea. Coming of just there third loss in the last 15 games Thursday night at Denver the Blazers knew if they wanted to move up in the western conference standings they couldn’t afford to let on slip away in Sacramento. The Blazers lead by just three after three quarters but then outscored Sacramento 98-87 in the 4th quarter for the 98-87 victory.

The Blazers got excellent contributions from all five starters. It was a good thing for Portland because the bench combined for just seven points. Nicolas Batum, coming off a scoreless night in Denver scored 21 points including a season high tying five three pointers. LaMarcus Aldridge scored 21 points with 9 rebounds. Brandon Roy scored 24 points and Andre Miller chipped in with 23 points. The newest member of the Blazers starting unit Marcus Camby only scored two points but added a game high 15 rebounds.

Sacramento was lead by another strong performance by Beno Udrich who scored a team high 22 points. Jason Thompson scored 18 points while Carl Landry scored 14 and Andres Nocioni added 12. After the game Paul Westphal said “Developing this team is about making us solid for the long term in the NBA. As we develop we have to find a way to win these kinds of games. Portland is very formidable team. They are solidly in the playoffs. No one wants to play them in the playoffs. They are on of the top teams in the league.”

At halftime the Kings organization honored longtime Kings Historian Joe Cronin with a framed Jersey.
