SACRAMENTO--The Kings who now have lost six straight and have lost eight of their last nine games are going to be headed to Anaheim next season and we would say now that they're good as calling them the Anaheim Royals.
The team has lost quite a few games and they have quiet a few injuries, they have players hurting and they're a young team. If you keep losing that many that's certainly going to influence the fact that they're leaving town. The team is not playing well.
While the team is aware that they are moving their not mailing this one in they're professional and they're not going to tank it now. Mentally are they ineffective possibly the loses on the floor contributed to the background of their moving to the Southland. It's a combination of things, are they giving up we don't think so.
Kings owner Joe Maloof tweeted that he's not announcing anything as of yet concerning the move for one reason he would like to have people continue their plans to come out for the last few home games and he would like to get a few more people to buy some seats before they bail from Sacramento.
They'll be a time when Maloof will announce and there is no reason to announce it now. First of all Maloof has to get approval from the NBA and it's not going to be a problem. He's doing the right thing by holding off at the end of the year and the negotiations aren't final either. You don't want to tell a group of folks that your leaving town when your trying to sell them tickets.
Sacramento will pay a price for losing Kings: Here's a team that's Major League in every respect. Sacramento is not the biggest community and also the fact that everybody goes to the Bay Area to do activities. The fact now is that Sacramento will be looking back and saying, "we did have NBA basketball" that's gone and the chances of getting another Major League franchise in here is rather slim.
Right now the Kings have not made a decisions on building a new arena and whether it gets done I'm not sure. Mayor Kevin Johnson knows this team is gone, so there's not much to say and he made a statement that's well said, "unless there's a hitch in the negotiations the Kings will be in Anaheim next year.
DeMarcus Cousins: For the injured Cousins we have said in the past we hope he matures. He's an excellent player. The Kings hope he matures and from the Kings standpoint the fans will like him in Anaheim very much.
Cousins has contributed to the Kings a lot in his first season and he's a great player but he has to improve mentally and grow up. He has the gift of being a very good player and a super star for the Kings next year and just for this team alone they're going to get a good draft pick. The Kings next year should be in pretty good shape and a pretty respectable team.
Cousins is not missed in the line up now because it doesn't matter now, they're not going to go the playoffs and some of the players are hurting. There's not much left of the season and in fact in reality it's the Kings advantage to lose because they're going for a top draft pick. So the fact that they're losing now is not a real problem and the bigger problem is they're leaving and the Maloofs are going to try and sell as many tickets as they can so they don't lose that much more money and look for the team to improve next year.
