Following the 1989 season, where the San Francisco Giants made their first World Series since the 1962 season, it would take another 13 years before their return.
Their opponents in the 2002 World Series, would be the Anaheim Angels, who were making their first ever appearance in the Fall Classic.
After splitting the first two games at Angel Stadium, the series would head up to the Bay Area for the next three games at what was then called Pacific Bell Park.
The Giants would take two of the three games in the Bay Area, including a 16-4 win in Game Five, which included a great save by J.T. Snow of Darren Baker, the three-year old son of Dusty Baker.
With the Giants leading 5-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Angels scored six unanswered runs over the final three innings to defeat the Giants 6-5 to force a game seven.
It was in game seven that the Giants fell short of their first World Championship since 1954, as the Angels defeated the Giants 4-1 to win their first World Series title.
