SAN FRANCISCO--The thing that the Giants have going for them is they can be playoff contenders for the next five or six years, they have a very strong pitching staff. They have an excellent pitching staff and that carried them this year. They're not the same team now as they were at the beginning of the year and they have a lot of additions and frankly the Giants have a good shot at the playoffs.

Aubrey Huff has been a tremendous surprise and it was a case that was really strange he's been a good hitter and a good fielder where other teams weren't interested in him and we don't know why because he's been great for the money and a bargain for the Giants. The thing that really got them there is that pitching staff, the starting and relief staff have come through and it's hard to beat the Giants when they have that strong pitching.

Colorado was a good example, they got a good hitting team yet the Giants basically shut that team down and the Rockies were able to win only one game. The other surprise for the Giants is catcher Buster Posey he's been a huge surprise with a great batting average and an unbelievable job catching and also he did a nice job at first base.

San Diego comes in over the weekend and San Diego is neck and neck with the Giants and they play the Cubs in San Diego on Tuesday night and if they win they would be tied and if they lose they would trail the Giants by a game. The Pads are a team to be reckoned with.

The other team that's kind of an unknown and they play a much better game at home would be the Arizona Di-amondbacks, they swept the Rockies three straight and that's what really knocked Colorado out of the playoffs. Mathematically they're still in the playoffs but realistically the Rockies can plan on next year.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy will face his former team the Padres but most of the players that were on that team when Bochy was there are gone now and he wants to win with the Giants. Bochy's chances are good for two reasons, their fighting the Padres but the team that really has faded and has surprised me were the Rockies and their gone and the Braves have taken themselves out for the wild card spot.

The Braves dropped two out of three to the Nationals and they were swept by the Phillies they go home to Atlanta and they got to end the season with the Phillies. Looking at the Braves unless they really turn it around and it would appear with a few more games to go with one more week San Diego or the Giants will win the division and the other team would end up in the Wild Card. This has been a great year and an unbelievable year and I would be very surprised if the Giants don't end up in the playoffs.
