Photo Brewers bounce back on Giants 10-8

Barry Bonds of the San Francisco Giants captured another slice of baseball history with his 734th career home run, but it didn't stop the Brewers from delivering another blow to the Giants' postseason aspirations. The San Francisco Giants were set back seven full games in the NL West on Saturday as they were also set back eight games in the NL Wild Card standings to boot. The Giants who had a lead early in the game on the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park lost in late innings 10-8.

With the Giants leading 1-0, starter Noah Lowry got into a jam in the bottom of the first inning surrendering five runs for a 5-1 start. Lowry gave up seven runs in the game in over five innings surrendered his sixth run in the bottom of the second making it 6-1 Milwaukee.

The Giants picked up two more runs in the top of the third when Barry Bonds hit a homer that broke the all time National League record for most homers at 734, making it 6-2. Pedro Feliz then followed up hitting a sac fly to deep center that scored Ray Durham making it 6-3.

In the top of the fifth inning the Giants added two more runs again when Moises Alou belted his 21st homer to drive in two runs making it 6-5 Brewers leading by one. In the of the sixth inning the Giants tied it up when Randy Winn hit a double to center to score Lance Niekro to tie it up 6-6.

Omar Vizquel hit a single to center to score Winn, and the Giants had a 7-6 lead. In the top of the 7th for the Giants Eliezer Alfonso hit a grounder to third and Moises Alou scored from third making it 8-6 Giants.

The Brewers then staged a come back when David Bell hit a grounder for a fielder choice in the bottom of the seventh to score Bill Hall and force Corey Hart at second to make it 8-7 Giants still in the lead.

The Brewers David Bell scored when Jack Taschner in relief for San Francisco threw a wild pitch for S.F. making it a tie ball game again 8-8.

In the Brewers bottom half of the eighth went ahead when Bill Hall hit a double to deep right to score Graffanino to take the lead 9-8.

The Brewers final touches on scoring came in the eighth as well when Hart was safe on a Moises Alou fielding error that scored Bill Hall in for the capper 10-8 would be the final score. For Milwaukee Jose Capellan (W, 4-2 ERA 4.30) and for San Francisco, Taschner (0-1 ERA 9.17).

Sunday's pitching match ups at Miller Park: For SF Matt Cain (13-10 ERA 3.79) lost last start 12-4 to Rockies on September 19th.

For the Brewers Ben Sheets (5-7 ERA 4.21) Sheets lost his last game 12-2 on September 19th on September 19th.
