SAN FRANCISCO-In what has been the norm of this season for the San Francisco Giants, they looked absolutely lackadaisical in the opener versus the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Ryan Doumit led off the second inning with a double, then Adam LaRoche doubled Doumit and the Pirates were go on to defeat the Giants 7-0 before 31,133 at AT&T Park.
Doumit was the star of the night, as he went 4-for-4 with three singles and a double.
Zach Duke won for the first time in 10 starts, as he was 0-9 with a 6.82 earned run average.
Duke gave up zero runs on six hits, while walking two and striking out four as he pitched a complete game.
Nyjer Morgan then scored the Pirates second run of the evening, as Nate McLouth hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning.
It looked like the Giants might threaten in the bottom of the third inning, as they loaded the bases with nobody out.
Unfortunately, Bengie Molina grounded into a double play and then Pablo Sandoval ended the inning, when he grounded to shortstop.
Brandon Moss hit a two-run triple in the top of the seventh inning, as Aaron Rowand was unable to catch the Moss hard hit ball to deep center field.
Kevin Correia went 4.1innings, giving three runs and seven hits, while walking two and striking out no one, before being replaced by Jack Taschner.
