What a turnaround over the past few days.
Two days after it looked like the Giants were about to be swept for the first time in history by the Colorado Rockies, the worst road team in baseball, they clinched a win in their three-game series against the Houston Astros with a 5-2 win at SBC Park.
Even more remarkable, they got through Andy Pettitte and Roy Oswalt to do it. To do the trick on Saturday, Giants starter Noah Lowry was flat-out brilliant over seven innings, tossing one-hit ball to one of the better lineups in the National League.
Edgardo Alfonzo knocked in two runs while going 2-for-4, and Omar Vizquel and Mike Matheny supplied the other RBI for the Giants.
The Astros got two runs in the ninth off reliever Tyler Walker, courtesy of a two-run homer by third baseman Morgan Ensberg.
The Giants will now head the Atlanta to take on the NL East-leading Braves for a three-game set before heading down to face the Florida Marlins in Miami.
