The Giants did enough scoring at Coors Field at the end of Monday night's game just to get by the Colorado Rockies with a final score of 9-6. The Rockies who were down 4-1 made a four run come back in the bottom of the seventh to make it 5-4.

The Giants were down, but not out, made the best of the eighth inning when Todd Greene hit a RBI double to deep right to score hot hitting Pedro Feliz to tie it up 5-5. Randy Winn then hit an RBI double to make it 6-5.

Omar Vizquel hit a single to score Winn for a 7-5 lead. The Rockies then added another run in the bottom of the eighth inning to make it 7-6 but it wasn't close enough for Colorado.

The Giants Pedro Feliz put the final touches on the ball game hitting his 14th home run a two run belt to put the Giants three runs on top 9-6 for the final.

Stefani's Giant footnotes: The selection of Barry Bonds for the 2006 All-Star Game is taking on a whole new life of its own. Discussions on talk radio have been polling whether Bonds deserves to be on the 2006 All-Star team and the consensus is very interesting depending on who you talk to.

In San Francisco most callers in a snap shot session poll for Babo to be there have said yes. And callers polled nationally said the same that Bonds should be there basically because of what he's has accomplished on the field.

However some of the callers said they held their noses when making the choice because their convinced that Bonds has used steroids and other performance enhancing drugs and because of his personality of being arrogant and being a jerk.

But you can't ignore what he's done on the field and although his numbers for this season don't make him an All-Star with a .246 avgas, 38 runs, 11 homers, and 34 RBIs for what he has accomplished in past years, the 73 homers in one season, passing Babe Ruth in homers, walks and hits etc, Bonds is one of kind player.

Still as much as people question why Bonds should be selected by Astros and National League Manager Phil Garner, Bonds should make an appearance in Pittsburgh where it all started for Babo in the first place and because lets face it with all the hoopla they want to see him there. He's controversial and he's a story.

Also mentioned for Giants selections Pitcher Jason Schmidt, Schmidt the large integral part of the Giants pitching staff has been the difference in keeping the Giants in the race as the Giants are only a game behind first place San Diego. Schmidt, 6-3 ERA 2.73 has one of the best records in the National League. Schmidt who was injured part of last year has managed to stay healthy this season and has pitched through the first half and there should be no reason for his selection.

Brian Wilson who relieved and picked up a decision in San Diego will stay up with the club for as long as reliever Tim Worrell stays out on the D.L. Worrell suffering from a bulging disk in his neck is taking his third turn on the D.L. after stints for the same injury in May and June.

The Giants outfielder Moises Alou came off the D.L. on Monday night in Colorado but his Father and Manager Felipe said he would continue to rest Moises until he can see he can play with no pain. Moises has been taking batting practice and is listed as day to day and might return during the Colorado series.

The Giants get back at it again for game two of the series Tuesday night Schmidt gets a chance at chalking up his ninth victory in a hitters park Coors field and Jeff Francis (5-7 ERA 4.25) gets the call for Colorado. A 5:00PM PDT start.
