SAN FRANCISCO-With Madison Bumgarner making his second major league start, the Boston Red Sox at probably this would be a great day.

Darnell McDonald hit a solo home run off of Bumgarner in the top of the first inning, as the Red Sox defeated the San Francisco Giants 4-2 before a sellout crowd of 42,178 at AT&T Park.

This was the fifth home run of the season for McDonald, and the fourth off of left-handed pitchers.

Mike Cameron added a three-run home run off of Bumgarner in the top of the second inning, his first of the season.

Clay Buchholz was forced to leave the game after the top of the second inning after he hyper extended his left knee.

Buchholz picked up his first career hit just before he was forced to leave the game with the knee injury.

This was the second consecutive day that the Red Sox lost a player to a leg injury.

Dustin Pedroia, who fouled a ball off of his left foot on Friday night was placed on the disabled list after it was revealed the 2008 American League Most Valuable Player broke a bone in his foot.

Buster Posey went 0-for-3 on the afternoon, but drove in both Giants runs, as he picked up his third multi-RBI game of the season.

Bumgarner went seven innings, allowing four runs on five hits, walking just one and striking out five in his second major league start.

Following the first two innings, Bumgarner settled down and retired 16 of the final 17 batters he faced before leaving at the end of the seventh inning.
