SAN FRANCISCO--The trip to Canada was not quite what they expected but it did end up on a nicer and gentler note with a comeback victory in game three of the series in a 9-6 win for the Giants as co-talk show host Jeremy Kahn reported in his Giants game report. The Giants found themselves chasing their tails most of this series and the Jays had home run come backs in the first two games from Jays gamers Edwin Encarncion and Aaron Hill.
The Jays did come back on the Giants but in game three the Giants down 3-1 and certain to face a sweep they sucked it up and tied up the ball game and then came back and won it.
The big inning for the Giants came in the sixth when they rallied on Jays pitcher Shaun Marcum for four hits and two runs and Jays reliever Bill Tallet help the Giants put up some round numbers, Tallet surrendering four hits and three runs in that fateful sixth.
In the first game of the series the Giants really blew that one and poor base running lost it and in the second game they just couldn't get any hits and Giant pitcher Matt Cain who pitched pretty good baseball lost a tough one and surrendered a homer to Aaron Hill on Saturday.
The Blue Jays are a good team but in game three starter Marcum who pitched four innings of ball and Tallet who came in and got touched up for those three runs and five total for the game which helped the Giants come back. One thing for sure Toronto is a tough place to go in and play and the Jays are a better team on their home field at the Sky Dome.
Anytime you’re in a division with New York, Boston and Tampa Bay, those are some pretty good teams. The Giants knew coming in that this was going to be a rough series and nobody was really surprised. Visiting the city of Toronto wise the Giants had a good time because that's been voted not only by MLB players as a favorite city to come and play and visit in but the NBA players voted it a favorite as well.
Most of the Giants had not been there before and the thing is too it's a beautiful city and even though they didn't do as well as they'd like to their on they're way to Houston to open a series with the Astros. The Astros are not the worst team in baseball but their a struggling team just above the last place Pirates.
Manager Bruce Bochy and the Giants are hopeful they can take three at Minute Maid. We were also looking at the Seattle Mariners and they could ship pitcher Cliff Lee to the Dodgers and if that happens it could be tough for the Giants if the Dodger improve their pitching.
The Dodgers who are tied for second with the Giants as of Sunday are in need to get one more pitcher and the Astros may shop Roy Oswalt who wants out of Houston, so the Astros are not going anywhere, so if they can get something from the Dodgers you could see a pitcher like Oswalt ending up in L.A.
Looking at the Giants series with the A's and Orioles before coming to Toronto it just comes to show you anything can happen on any day in baseball. The Astros have a tough time winning games and could end up being one of the worst teams in baseball but when you go out there in Houston you never know what to expect against them.
Bonds' son off the hook: Former Giant outfielder Barry Bonds' son Nikolai Bonds was dismissed against any further charges for assaulting his mother Sun Bonds back on December 5th. Nikolai a former Giants bat boy was accused by Sun for allowing his friends in her house and Sun accused his friends of stealing jewelry out her bedroom.
Nikolai 20, became irate from his friends being accused that he spit in Sun's face, threw a door knob that missed his mother, and kept her from leaving the house. Nikolai entered a no contest plea and was dismissed with time served he spent four days in jail.
Had his mother come to testify Nikolai could have received a stiffer sentence for assault. She did not testify against her son and Nikolai was also fined $2,130. During a baseball reunion at AT&T Park for the 2000 Giants players who came to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the park Bonds showed up and was asked about Nikolai's pending charges and he refused to comment.
