What a difference between playing at home and on road this season for the Milwaukee Brewers under first-year manager Ron Roenicke.

Yovanni Gallardo gave up just four hits in eight innings of work, as he won his fifth straight start and the Brewers defeated the San Francisco Giants 6-0 at Miller Park.

Gallardo is 5-0 with a 1.26 earned run average over his last five starts, including taking a no-hitter into the eighth inning on May 7 against the St. Louis Cardinals.

With the victory, the Brewers ended their nine-game homestand with an 8-1 record, with their only loss coming on Friday night against the Giants.

To make matters even worse for future visiting teams that travel to Miller Park this season, the Brewers are a National League best 21-7.

It was not a good day at all for the Giants, as they did not have a batter reach scoring position until there was two outs in the eighth inning.

The Brewers got to eventual losing pitcher Matt Cain in the very first inning, as he gave up singles to Ryan Braun and Casey McGehee.

Prince Fielder added a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third inning, and Rickie Weeks added a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Freddy Sanchez singled in the top of the first inning, becoming the 87th player in major league history to reach the 1,000 hit plateau.
