SAN FRANCISCO - Pedro Feliz and Moises Alou both
collected two homers each at SBC Park on Wednesday
night as the San Francisco Giants improved against the
Los Angeles Dodgers with an 10-2 win in the second
game of the three-game series.
The Giants fought their way back to go one game above
.500 at 23-22 and continue to thrive off their offense
and improve defensively.
Right-hander Brett Tomko performed solidly with 116
pitches over eight innings, striking out five to
improve his record to 4-6.
Alou set the tone in the first inning by hitting a
two-run home run to left field on a 3-2 pitch,
followed by Edgardo Alfonzo's double and Feliz's home
run to left. The Giants rocked L.A. in the second
inning, scoring two more runs against Dodger starter
Wilson Alvarez, who started for the first time this
season.
Alvarez sat down in the top of the fourth, ddd replaced
by reliever Buddy Carlyle as the Giants continued to
have answers. Giants fans stuck around for the win,
shouting "Pedro Feliz for president" as he hit his
second home run on a 3-2 pitch to make it 9-2.
Finally in the bottom of the seventh, Alou hit his
seventh home run of the season to left field and
scored the final run as the Giants won their fourth
straight.
Los Angeles manager Jim Tracy said afterwards, "It
boils down to the home run ball. It's not the first
time, but that's what did us in."
Stefani's Giants notes: Both clubs went at it again
Thursday at SBC Park. With the victory, San Francisco
moved into a statistical tie with the Dodgers, who
have fallen off the wayside after a brilliant start.
The Dodgers have seen their momentum slide since the
middle of May.
