SAN FRANCISCO- On an afternoon when it was on the cool side, the ball was definitely leaving the yard.

Orlando Cabrera hit two home runs, Carlos Quentin hit a solo home run, and Joe Crede also went deep, and the Chicago White Sox completed a three-game sweep, defeating the San Francisco Giants 13-8 before 34,331 at AT&T Park.

It was the third two-home run game for Cabrera, and the first since hitting against the Philadelphia Phillies at Veterans Stadium on May 30, 2003, while playing for the Montreal Expos.

Rich Aurilia hit a solo home run for the Giants in the bottom of the second inning, as the Giants took an early 1-0 lead.

That would be the lead all the way until the top of the fifth, when the White Sox finally got to Matt Cain after being shutout and no-hit by the right-hander.

Cain was cruising, but Crede not only broke up the shutout with one swing of the bat, he hit a Cain pitch over the wall to tie up the game.

The Giants retook the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Jose Castillo doubled and then Ray Durham singled home Castillo, when the ball hit off of second base and into center field.

Cabrera led off the top of the sixth inning with a solo home run, former Giants catcher A.J. Pierzynski then singled, and Quentin hit a two-run home run for his 11th home run of the season.

Jim Thome came up to pinch hit for John Danks in the top of the seventh inning and walked just before Cabrera hit his second home run of the afternoon.

The Giants rallied again in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Randy Winn tripled, Castillo then singled in Winn. Ray Durham then singled and Bengie Molina tied up the game when he doubled into the right field corner.

Paul Konerko got the White Sox rally started in the top of the eighth inning, as he began a streak of three consecutive singles, before former A’s outfielder Nick Swisher hit a double to score all three runs.

In a game that would never end, the Giants rallied to cut the White Sox lead down to 9-8, as Omar Vizquel walked, John Bowker then walked, and Winn then walked to load the bases. Jose Castillo then reached on an error by Crede that scored Vizquel from third base. Durham then scored Winn when he hit into a fielders’ choice, but the rally died when Steve Holm hit into a double play to end the inning.

The White Sox put the game away, as they scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning, as Pierzynski, Quentin, and Jermaine Dye hit consecutive singles to lead off the inning.

After a sacrifice fly by Konerko and Crede, Alexei Ramirez put the finishing touches on the game with a two-run double.

Nick Masset pitched the final two innings to pickup his first major league save.
