The San Francisco Giants beat the Colorado Rockies in the Mile High City Sunday afternoon 8-6. The winner was Matt Herges (1-0) and Armando Benitez picked up his first save. The loser for Colorado was Byung-Hyun Kim (0-2).

Michael Tucker was 2-for-5 with a double and Edgardo Alfonzo was 3-for-4, also with a double.

The Giants tangle next in San Diego and conclude their brief visit to Petco Park on Tuesday. The team has not expressed any concern over a story that was printed by the Chronicle concerning Barry Bonds' continued association with trainer Greg Anderson, who has been indicted in the BALCO scandal by the San Francisco grand jury.

Bonds was quoted as saying, "I'm loyal to my friends and Greg Anderson is a friend."

Bonds was seen by a Chronicle writer and a photographer entering a Burlingame gym and working out with Anderson.

It's been said that Bonds, despite what the appearance of all this is, will continue his workout regimen with Anderson and will also continue to work with weights and lifting.

Bonds attorney, Michael Rains, has asked the superstar to stop working out with Anderson because the appearance of it would be suspicious.

One other concern is that if Bonds was to continue doing this, he would be accused further of receiving steroids from Anderson.

At last word, the pair have met every other day since the story ran last week. Bonds, who receives more than $10 million a year, will continue the practice and will work out with Anderson, regardless what people think.

Anderson has had his home invaded by the Feds and had computers and documents taken from his home, according to the Chronicle.
