The Giants welcomed San Francisco's 100th anniversary of the 1906 earthquake with some earthshaking news as the Giants won two straight, four of their last six and occupy first place in the National League West with a 10-9 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Bank One Ball Park, on Monday night.

The game was without fanfare as the Bank One security ended up arresting 23 year old Mark Greggerson, of Show Low Arizona on disorderly charges for throwing a tube of toothpaste that just missed Giants left fielder Barry Bonds. Bonds who would not comment after the game did not get hit by the object but with beefed up security three officers saw Greggerson wind up and toss the object and apprehended him immediately and escorted him from the bleachers in left field.

"It's definitely not a trend that we want to continue. I know he's going through a lot. First and foremost, he's a human being." said Giants center fielder Randy Winn who was the closest to Bonds when the object was thrown.

The Giants seem to be thick skinned through all the cat calls and boos and go out and win and win they did as they jumped to a 7-0 lead when they scored runs twice in the first, twice in the second, and three in the third to take the lead.

The D-Backs came back with two four run rallies once in the fifth and another in the sixth to take a 9-8 lead. The Giants did a come back of their own in the eighth and ninth innings scoring twice in the 8th and once in the 9th to take a 10-9 lead and to win the game.

The D-Backs had home runs from A. Green #1 in the 5th, Eric Byrnes #1 in the fifth, and Luis Gonzalez #4 in the sixth, the Giants had no big flies but win the ball game and are now 8-4.

Stefani's Giants footnotes: The Giants Matt Morris (2-0 ERA 2.57) a right hander starts for San Francisco and for Arizona former Giant Russ Ortiz (0-2 ERA 6.10) gets the call in game two of this four game series first pitch is at 6:40PM PDT.

The book "Love me, Hate me" by Jeff Pearlman the former Sports Illustrated columnist is set for pre-order today. Part of the title "the anti-hero" which talks about Bonds intimately over the years interviews over 500 different people connected with Bonds from his former team mates in Pittsburgh and San Francisco, members of the media, fans who had been poorly treated by the Giant outfielder and those who also were treated good, it even interviews him mother Pat, ex-girlfriend Kimberly Bell, and his former Cub Scout den mother.

The excerpts are definitely telling so what Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams of the San Francisco Chronicle did for "Shadows of the Game" in exploiting Bonds steroid use and dealings Pearlman digs back in Bonds past intimately with family, friends, ex-players, media, fans and front office people. From what I've seen of the excerpts it should be a good read.
