Scary Barry Scary Barry's Commentary: SF Giants - Kent Is Hot, Rodriguez Is Not

Folks, at least a few weeks ago Jeff Kent the Giants 2nd baseman AKA " Mr. Regular Guy " and Barry Bonds " Mr.73 " had a scuffle in the old dugout. Heated words were exchanged and the mainstream media indulged in speculation about Mr.Kent's next baseball address. Manager Dusty Baker played his cards close to his vest and put Mr.Regular guy in the third spot in the batting line up,ahead of Mr.Bonds. Since that time kent has gone on a 12 game hitting streak, stolen bases, gone from first to third on base hits and generally made things difficult for the opposition. On offense he has been hotter than a horny senior citizen on Viagra ! He has silenced his critics, including yours truely the Scary one! The Giants are having another typical roller coaster season. Now, the downside has been the meltdown of that bullpen fireplug Felix Rodriguez. Once upon a time Felix was the ultimate set up man , blowing away batters in the eighth inning with fastballs and leaving them on the ropes for closer Robb Nen's wicked slider. This season Felix is wearing the opposition out in the wrong way. Opposing teams are working up calluses smoking the ball off his pitches. It seems that Rodriguez is getting behind the count with almost every hitter he faces. The ever faithful Dusty brings him into the game time after time, only to have him give up game breaking hits. Bullpen mate Tim Worrell is being worn out having to bail out Felix in almost every game. The trading deadline is long gone. Maybe Dusty should send Felix down to the Minors for rehab. With the Giants in a fierce three way battle with the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers for the division flag , having a relief pitcher throwing batting practise in an actual game , is not a liability they can afford much longer!
