Scary Barry Scary Barry's Commentary: Giants - Will The Bats Of April Be A Bust In May?

Folks, the Giants are now on a winning streak in spite of the pathetic offense being generated by their fearsome batting lineup. All those big bats and they may as well be using toothpicks. Week after week the Giants strand bus loads of runners on base. The fans at Pac Bell park now know they can make a pit stop at anytime and not miss a thing! Jeff Kent, Mr. Regular guy, is one of the big reasons why the Giants aren't scoring runs. Game after game, Mr. 73 (Barry Bonds) is walked and Mr. Regular guy is proving just how ordinary he is at driving in runs when runners are in scoring position. Just like last year Mr. MVP, no great shakes! The Giants know they are in trouble when J.T. Snow is the hottest batter in the lineup! Shinjo and his cool shades is warming the bench after proving he's never seen a pitch that was too bad to try and hit. Reggie Sanders is definitely not constipated like most of the Giants, a nice guy who hits the ball a foot or out of the yard. No in betweens! Rich Aurilla needs to regain his 2001 form at the plate. There's been so many base runners for the Giants, like a Greyhound bus terminal when the airlines are on strike. Yet the Giants pitching staff has to sweat it out every game, knowing they can't count on much run support! Until the Giants batters get back on track, opposing pitchers will continue to keep their teams in the game even while loading the bags. Coming into the 2002 season, on paper the Giants looked to be hot stuff. Are they paper tigers or just daydreaming? For the first time in the short history of Pac Bell Park, the attendance is going down. It's time for the Giants to show they are worthy of the contender label!
