Lawrence Hill scored 17, including two big free throws with 14.1 seconds remaining in the game and the Cardinal defeated the Bulldogs 79-77 at the Save Mart Center.
Brook and Robin Lopez, who grew up in Fresno each scored 10 points in the first game back in their hometown.
Fred Washington added 12 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the Cardinal, who improve to 7-2 on the season.
CAL transfer Dominic McGuire scored 25 points lead the Bulldogs, who lost for the just second time this season.
Mitch Johnson added nine points and dished off 10 assists for the Cardinal, who shutout the Bulldogs in bench scoring 12-0
