Stanford, CA - Stanford extends its excellent home record to 32-6 at home today as they easily defeat Florida A&M with a score of 99-69. The game was really only a contest in the first 10 minutes, but the rest of the game the Cardinal dominated.

The first half opened up with Stanford scoring on the first possession, but after that both teams played poorly for the first five minutes. Stanford took a time out and then went on a 11-0 scoring run, putting them up by 7. The difference in momentum was the full court press, which threw A&M off.

A&M stepped up their field goal percentage and by 9 minutes remaining in the half, it was A&M 18 to Sta 14. Within 3 minutes though, the Cardinal’s Jeremy Green was on fire shooting, and they found themselves up 21-18. Cardinal three point shooting was hitting well at this point, and by 6 minutes remaining, the Cardinal were sitting at 30-21.

In the last 5 minutes of the half, A&M stopped going for the three point shots and continued to put their shots in from the middle and lay-up range. Their accuracy seemed to be good, but the Cardinal continued hitting from the field, unstopped by Florida. End half at 47-31 Stanford lead.

First half shooting stacked up this way: Stanford FG 47.2%, 3pt FG 38.5% compared to Florida FG 44.8%, 3pt FG 50%

The second half started with a 16 point lead for Stanford, they were determined not to give it up easily. Thanks to spreading the ball and points around, they had held on to a sizable lead with 15 minutes remaining in the half. The Cardinal were still up 65-39 at this point.

Fast forward 5 minutes, Cardinal are leading by 30 points and 10 minutes to go. A&M had even begun trying to full court press Stanford, but after a while they still weren’t recovering, and gave up on that. A&M did try to put up a rally toward the end, outpacing Stanford and closing the score gap, but it was too little to late. Within a few plays, Stanford put the lead right back up on the boards again.

Final Score Stanford 99, Florida 69.
