It will most definitely be a night that Alex Brink will never forget as quarterback of the Washington State Cougars.

All Brink did was throw for 449 yards and throw one touchdown, as the Cougars staved off a late Stanford Cardinal rally and defeat the Cardinal 33-17 at Martin Stadium on Saturday night.

By throwing the one touchdown pass to tight end Ben Woodward, Brink broke the Cougars record fro most thrown touchdowns in school history.

Brink passed Jason Gesser, who threw 70 touchdowns while playing for the Cougars from 1999-2002.

Cougars wide receiver Michael Bumpus broke a 45-year old school record, as he caught a routine 18-yard pass from Brink in the fist quarter.

It was the 178th career catch for Bumpus, who passes Hugh Campbell for the most catches in Cougars history.

Campbell played for the Cougars from 1960-1962, and made 177 catches.

The Cardinal trailed 13-0 at the half, but cut the lead down to 13-10; however Kevin McCall raised the lead up to 20-10 after he scored on a 10-yard run.

Tavita Pritchard returned to his home state, but it was troublesome homecoming for the red shirt freshman out of Clover Park High School in Tacoma.

Pritchard went 22-for-40 for 263 yards, and was intercepted on two different occasions and was sacked four times.

Tyrone McGraw and Jeremy Stewart each scored rushing for the Cardinal, who were without the services of Anthony Kimble and Toby Gerhart.
