Following the heartbreaking 23-20 loss to the UCLA Bruins on October 18, the Stanford Cardinal could have folded up the tent for the season, but this is not same team as in other seasons.
The Cardinal now look ahead to face the Washington State Cougars on Saturday afternoon at Stanford Stadium, who are 1-7 on the season and 0-5 in the PAC-10.
With a victory over the Cougars, the Cardinal would extend their home winning streak up to five, going back to the 20-13 victory over the California Golden Bears in last season’s “Big Game.”
This is the 59th overall meeting between the Cardinal and the Cougars since the series began in 1936.
The Cougars have won the last two meetings between the two schools, including 33-17 last season at Stanford Stadium.
Since defeating the Cougars 54-17 in the Rose Bowl season of 1999, the Cardinal have lost four in a row to the Cougars at Stanford Stadium.
