Senior quarterback T.C. Ostrander will sit out Saturday’s afternoon game between the Stanford Cardinal and the number two USC Trojans.

Ostrander was at a restaurant with teammates and family watching former Stanford quarterback Trent Edwards play for the Buffalo Bills against the New York Jets.

While watching the game, Ostrander’s father called out his name, and Ostrander fell to the ground and hit his head onto to a pole.

Ostrander was then taken to Stanford Hospital, where he underwent a series of tests.

He was released from the hospital on Sunday evening, and return to class this week.

Ostrander will travel to the game with the Cardinal, but will not play against the Trojans, a team that defeated the Cardinal 42-0 on November 4, 2006.

Replacing Ostrander will be sophomore Tavita Pritchard, who will be making his first as a collegian on Saturday.

Pritchard is the nephew of former Washington State quarterback Jack Thompson, who played for the Cougars in the mid 1970s.

While at the Pullman school, Thompson was known as the “Throwin’ Samoan.

Thompson played in the NFL for six seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was the third pick in the 1979 NFL draft, behind Tom Cousineau and Mike Bell.
