If Brook Lopez does not return to the Stanford Cardinal next season, what a great way to go out.

Lopez is still undecided on his future, but the seven-foot sophomore out of Fresno Memorial High School is playing amazing basketball at the most opportune time.

Lopez scored 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, as the Cardinal defeated the Washington State Cougars 75-68 in the semifinals of the Pacific Life PAC-10 Tournament at Staples Center.

With the victory, the Cardinal will try and seek redemption, as they will face the UCLA Bruins, a team that narrowly defeated them on March 6 at Pauley Pavilion.

Junior Lawrence Hill added 14 points and Brook’s twin brother Robin scored nine, as the Cardinal advanced to their third conference tournament championship game and their first since winning the tournament in 2004.

Things looked to be going the Cardinal way, as they led the Cougars 67-54 with 3:35 remaining in the game, but they were unable to close the door on the Cougars, as they went on a 14-4 run to cut the lead down to 71-68 with 24.3 seconds remaining.

Taj Finger and Mitch Johnson each made two free throws to end the Cougars comeback.

The Cougars were led by Kyle Weaver’s 25 points, which is the senior out of Beloit, Wisconsin’s career high.

Derrick Low added 15,while Daven Harmeling chipped in with 13 and Taylor Rochestie scored 11 and dished off five assists for the Cougars, who will await their fate on Sunday, when the selections for the tournament are announced.
