After a one-year absence from the NCAA Tournament, the Stanford Cardinal men’s basketball team is returning to the field of 65. The Cardinal, who fell to the USC Trojans in heartbreaking fashion in the first round of the Pacific Life Pac-10 tournament, will be facing the Louisville Cardinals on Thursday at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY. This is only the second meeting ever between the Cardinal and the Cardinals, two teams that have won the tournament a combined three times. The Cardinal won the tournament in 1942, and the Cardinals won the tournament in 1980 and 1986. In their only previous meeting, the Cardinals defeated the Cardinal 82-67 in the EA Maui Sports Invitational at Lahaina Civic Center on November 24, 2004. |
