This was definitely not the way that the Stanford Cardinal wanted to end the regular season by getting swept by the Los Angeles schools.
Freshman sensation O.J .Mayo scored 25 points , while Taj Gibson added 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, as the USC Trojans defeated the seventh-ranked Cardinal 77-64 at the Galen Center.
This was the sixth win in seven game for the Trojans, who are trying to make it to the NCAA Tournament via a At-Large selection.
Senior Kenny Brown led the Cardinal with 19 points, while Robin Lopez scored 16 points and his twin brother Brook chipped in with 11 points and 10 rebounds, but it was not enough as the Cardinal lost their second straight at the most inopportune time.
It was not much of a game from the outset, as the Cardinal fell behind by 14 points with just six and a half minutes gone in the first half.
The Cardinal cut the lead down to six at 39-33, but the Trojans immediately responded by going on a 10-4 run to extend the lead up to 49-37.
Brown, who rarely plays was inserted into the game, and responded by scoring by scoring eight consecutive points to cut the Trojans lead down to 22-16.
