With a chance to send another Los Angeles team out of the Pac-10 tournament, the Stanford Cardinal were unable to complete the Bay Area sweep.

Earlier in the day, the California upset the number one seeded UCLA Bruins 76-69 in overtime and the Cardinal led the USC Trojans by 11 points in the second half.

The Trojans did not want to go out like their crosstown rivals, making a ferocious comeback and defeating the Cardinal 83-79 also in overtime.

Nick Young led the Trojans with 26 points, and Lodrick Stewart hit two huge baskets in the extra five-minute session, helping the Trojans advance to the semifinals of the Pacific Life Pac-10 tournament at Staples Center.

Anthony Goods led the Cardinal with 19 points, in his first game back after suffering a sprained left ankle against the Washington Huskies.

Landry Fields scored a career high 15 points, and Fred Washington added 12.

The Trojans received added support from Gabe Pruitt, who scored 17 points, Taj Gibson scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Dwight Lewis added 10 for the Trojans, who won their first conference tournament game since the 2004 tournament, that was ironically won by the Cardinal.

The Cardinal led the Trojans by four points with under a minute remaining in the second half, when Robin Lopez hit two baskets, but Young hit two free throws with 39 seconds and the game-tying shot with 10.6 seconds remaining.

Gibson blocked a shot by Goods in the waning seconds to send the game into overtime.

In the extra session, the Trojans scored seven straight to open the overtime period and never looked back.
