Southern California scored the final six points of its game with Stanford Saturday, ensuring a 54-49 Pac-10 men’s basketball triumph over the visiting Cardinal in Los Angeles.

Sophomore Nikola Vucevic led the Trojans (14-9 overall, 6-5 Pac-10) with 18 points and 14 rebounds. His final points came on a putback with 26.4 seconds remaining, giving USC the lead for good at 50-49. The Trojans closed the game out with four free throws.

The Cardinal (10-13, 4-7) have yet to win a road game in conference play this season in seven tries. Again, Landry Fields was the top scorer for Stanford, with 27 points and 11 rebounds. No other Cardinal was in double figures.

Neither team had a great day shooting – the Trojans hit 21 of 55 field goal attempts (38 percent), while Stanford was 17 of 56 (30 percent) from the floor. USC held a 37-33 rebounding edge.

The Cardinal return home Thursday to host Washington State (7 p.m.) and Washington on Saturday (5 p.m.).
