What a strange month for the Stanford Cardinal.
First, they lose to the California Golden Bears at Maples Pavilion for the first time since the Bill Clinton administration was in its first month in the White House, and then go on to defeat the Virginia Cavaliers, Washington Huskies and Washington State Cougars in dramatic fashion.
Fast forward five days after the Washington State victory, and head to the University of Oregon, a team they have defeated seven straight times.
Well, instead of the streak reaching eight, Aaron Brooks scored 19 points, as the ninth ranked Oregon Ducks defeated the Cardinal 66-59.
With the win, Ernie Kent moved into second place on the Ducks all-time win list with 181 wins.
What a night for the Ducks at the free throws, as they shot 37 free throws, making 30 of them and raised their record to 17-1 on the season, and 5-1 in the Pac-10 conference.
Tajuan Porter scored 15 points and Bryce Taylor added 14, as the Ducks are now off to their best start in 80 years.
Lawrence Hill, who was the hero of the last two Cardinal games scored 13 points, while senior Fred Washington, playing his last game ever in Eugene added 12.
Robin Lopez scored 10, and Anthony Goods, who scored 49 points against the Washington schools, was held to just seven points.
After leading at the half, the Cardinal fell behind quickly; however they went on a 12-3 run that gave them a 40-32 lead and primed for the upset.
Unfortunately, the Ducks then went on a 14-6 run to tie up the game, but the Cardinal once retook the lead only to see the Ducks over take them at the end and win their 17th game of the season.
