What a great way for the Stanford Cardinal to break a six-game losing streak than with a big shot from their sophomore sensation.

Brook Lopez scored 19 points, but no two points were bigger than the baseline jumper he hit with 1:55 remaining in the game and the Cardinal defeated the Wildcats 56-52 at Maples Pavilion.

The Wildcats had numerous chances to send the game into overtime, or even win it; however Jerryd Bayless missed a jumper and senior Fred Washington was fouled in the process.

Washington, a 52 percent free throw shooter calmly sank both free throws to clinch the first win by the Cardinal over the Wildcats since January 8, 2005, when the Cardinal defeated the Wildcats 87-76 at Maples.
