Lawrence Hill came up huge when it was needed the most for the Stanford Cardinal in their tilt versus the Virginia Cavaliers.

Hill hit a jumper with nine-tenths of a second remaining, as the Cardinal defeated the Cavaliers 76-75 at John Paul Jones Arena.

The loss was the first ever suffered by the Cavaliers in their brand-new building that opened earlier this season.

Robin Lopez led the Cardinal with 15 points, while Hill chipped in with 13, none bigger than the final two that gave the Cardinal the victory in a very tough environment.

Brook Lopez scored 12, while Anthony Goods and Fred Washington each scored 11 in the one-point road victory.

J.R. Reynolds scored 14 points for the Cavaliers, but he missed the first of two free throws with 9.4 remaining that gave the Cardinal the chance at victory.

With no timeouts, the Cardinal drove down the court and Washington found Hill, who made the shot to give the Cardinal the victory.
