Stanford – Stanford opened their Pac-10 season home opener with a squeaky 54-53 win over USC. The Cardinal (7-7,1-1) regrouped from their loss to their rival last week at Cal, and earned a conference win. They also stopped the USC 8 game winning streak.

Jeremy Green lead the Cardinal shooting tonight with 17 points. Landry Fields lead rebounding with 8 boards and 14 points. Andrew Zimmerman also put up 10 points.

Even with his 14 points, Landry Fields is off his usual scoring pace. He only put up 5 of 14 in this game, and last week against Cal he was only 9 for 24. One place he still continues to shine is in rebounding.

Stanford shot 22-48 for 45.8% from the field and 3-9 for 33% three point shooting. USC was not far behind in comparison to 20-50 for 40% and 6-17 for 35% from three point shooting.

Stanford has beaten USC in their last 8 games at home, and hasn’t lost to the Trojans at home since 2003.

Stanford plays again on Saturday at home against UCLA at 3pm.
