Cal is now 3-3 in the Pac-10, and 6-3 overall, after losing to Oregon State 31-14 at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, November 7. The game took the Bears out of the top 25 rankings and, perhaps, took Jahvid Best off the roster for the rest of the season. At 6:07 in the second quarter Best jumped over the line, scoring a touchdown but soaring into the air and landing on his back and head, suffering his second concussion in just over a week. When the Bears play their final home game against Arizona – now ranked around #20 in the various polls – the Cal defense will need to defend against the running game of Travis Cobb and William “Bug” Wright. More importantly, quarterback Kevin Riley would do well to continue hitting a number of receivers, like Anthony Miller, Verran Tucker, Marvin Jones, and Alex Lagemann in addition to Shane Vereen who is just beneath Best on the depth chart. Depending on the condition of Vince D’Amato, the PAT and field goal .kicking duties may go to Giorgio Tavecchio. The kickoff against the Wildcats is presently scheduled for 4:12 p.m. PDT on Saturday, November 1.
