A’s centerfielder, Coco Crisp, was a one man wrecking crew tonight as he led the A’s to a victory over his former club, the Boston Red Sox. Crisp had 3 hits and a walk as he reached base 4 times. He stole 3 bases and scored twice. In addition, Coco made the defensive play of the night. In the first inning, Crisp robbed Ryan Kalish as he made a fantastic catch leaping about 2 feet over the centerfield fence. With the 3 steals, Crisp now has 19 consecutive which is the longest such streak by an Athletic since Stan Javier stole 28 in 1995. Crisp now has 27 for the season which is just one short of his own personal record. He stole 28 in 2007 when he was with the Red Sox. Crisp is signed for this year and the A’s have an option on him for 2011. Crisp broke his finger just before the start of the season and missed over 70 games this year. Crisp has been a force since coming off the disabled list and there’s no way of knowing where the A’s would be if he had been healthy all year.

After the game Crisp was asked if it was sweeter beating his old team. Crisp said not really as he has played for 3 other clubs before coming to Oakland.

This is Crisp’s 9th season in the Majors. He played 4 years in Cleveland then was traded to Boston in 2006. He played there for 3 years and won a World Series ring with B Boston in 2007. He was traded to Kansas City last year but was hampered by injuries.

Game notes-Trevor Cahill won his 16th game of the year, which is the most since Barry Zito, and Joe Blanton won 16 each in 2006.
