Both teams will be coming into Tuesday’s game off recent win streaks and recent hot streaks overall. Oakland took two out of three from the Chicago White Sox and are 9-2 in the their last eleven games. The Rangers took three of four from the Los Angeles Angels and are almost as hot as the Athletics, 8-3 in their last eleven games.

Oakland is seven and half games behind Texas and just a half game behind Los Angeles, who lost to the White Sox, 6-4.

A’s starter Gio Gonzalez will be coming into the game with a two-game win streak. Manager Bob Geren hopes closer Andrew Bailey, who has been dealing with back spasms, will be available this time if needed. Outfielder Rajai Davis is also day-to-day. Third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff has an eight-game hitting streak and outfielder Coco Crisp has three stolen bases in his last two games.

Cliff Lee opened against the Angels and now will open against Oakland. In his last two starts, Lee has pitched at least 8.1 innings and given up just two runs each game. Outfielder Nelson Cruz has a career-high fourteen game hitting streak. Not far behind, third baseman Michael Young has hits in eight straight games. With a .357 average, the most consistent hitter in the league right now is outfielder Josh Hamilton.

Oakland has won its last four road games.

Game notes: The A’s will play three games versus the Rangers and then three games versus the White Sox again, before returning home to play the Kansas City Royals, altogether nine straight games. Tuesday’s game starts at 5:05pm and will be taking place at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas.
