Rich Harden may be from Canada, but every time he returns to his home country he is greeted rather rudely, eh?

In his short career with the A’s, the Victoria, British Columbia native is now 0-3 with a 5.59 earned run average in five starts against the Toronto Blue Jays, this after the Blue Jays defeated the Oakland A’s 4-2 at the Rogers Centre.

Harden, winner of his previous three starts, went just five innings, giving up five hits and a season-high six walks.

Bobby Kielty singled and Eric Byrnes followed that up with a home run, but those were the only two runs to cross the plate for the Green and Gold.

Gustavo Chacin picked up his first win for the Blue Jays since June 6, a span of seven starts.

Chacin went 5 2/3 innings, giving up just those two runs and five hits.

It was only the fourth loss in the 18 games for the A’s, and it was their first series loss in their last seven.

The A’s fall two games under .500.

Vernon Wells hit his second home run in as many days, a three-run shot in the bottom of the fifth inning. Wells also slammed a three-run blast in Wednesday’s 8-0 shutout of the A’s.

NOTES: The A’s have signed Jared Lansford, the son of former A’s third baseman Carney Lansford to a contract. Lansford, who was a pitcher at St. Francis High School in Mountain View, was the 69th overall pick in last month’s Amateur Draft.
