The Oakland Athletics now travel from facing the worst team in the National League, the Pittsburgh Pirates, to the worst team in the American League and overall, the Baltimore Orioles.

It won’t necessarily be an easy sweep however.

Though the A’s are on a three-game winning streak, thanks to a sweep against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Baltimore Orioles one-up them with a season-high four-game winning streak after a win against the Florida Marlins and a sweep against the Washington Nationals. Though Baltimore only won each game against the Nationals by one run, it hides the fact that the Orioles overcame at least a three-run deficit to do so in each game. Meanwhile, the margin in which Oakland won each game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, decreased each game.

Center fielder Adam Jones has an eight-game hitting streak for Baltimore.

Regarding the two projected starters, both will be attempting to gain elusive wins. A’s starter Dallas Braden has owned Baltimore and hopes to continue in his ninth bid to win since his Mother’s Day perfect game. It will be the Orioles’ second-year pitcher Brian Matsuz’s thirteenth attempt to win, however, since he last won, against Oakland.

Game notes: The A’s kick off their six-game road game with the first of this three-game set, Tuesday at 4:05pm. They face the Cleveland Indians afterwards.
