Just as soon as the Los Angeles Angels achieved their season-high win streak, it was over, as Oakland bust out in a 10-1 win with eighteen hits as well.
The A's had five two-out RBI singles and hit two home runs in breaking the Angels' six-game streak.
With two outs, three consecutive singles allowed Jack Cust to bring in Ryan Sweeney for the A's first run in the bottom of the first.
Oakland had another two-out RBI in the bottom of the second, when Eric Patterson brought in Mark Ellis, who had walked.
The A's variation of a two-out RBI single happened for a third time in the bottom of the third. Oakland started this time with two leadoff singles, before Sweeney scored his second run of the game.
Los Angeles scored their solo run in the top of the fifth when Kevin Frandsen grounded out. Juan Rivera had led off with a single and Michael Ryan doubled.
In the seventh, the A's led off with two singles for the second time. Then, Kurt Suzuki brought them all in with a three-run home run to make the score 6-1. Oakland's fourth two-out single happened when Gabe Gross singled, stole second and Ellis singled to make it 7-1.
Suzuki earned his fourth RBI of the night when he provided the A's fifth and final two out-single in the bottom of the eighth. Cust then brought him in with his own home run.
Vin Mazarro (2-0) earned his second win in a row as he started for just the second time this season, pitching in place of the injured Brett Anderson. Mazarro was called up from Triple A May 20. Meanwhile, Jered Weaver gave up a season-high ten hits.
Game notes: Oakland stole three bases. The teams play the third of four games Wednesday at 7:30pm.
