Oakland is currently in second place in the West and on a three-game winning streak. They are two games behind the Texas Rangers and three and a half games ahead of the Los Angeles Angels.

The Athletics start off their ten-game road trip with a three-game set against the Baltimore Orioles, who are last in the Majors, and on a two-game losing streak.

Oakland just finished sweeping their Bay Area rivals, the San Francisco Giants, in three games, with two shutouts. The last time their pitchers gave up a run was in the seventh inning on Friday.

Projected starter Dallas Braden hopes to give his team another win as he tries to end their five-game road losing streak and his third overall straight. Pitching stats on the road versus home for the team and himself however, don't help. So far, the team's win percentage on the road has been 14%, with only two wins in fourteen games played.

Though it's way too early to say, one could say after Braden's Mother's Day perfect game, with his second straight loss, that game was like a perfect curse, in that he suddenly wasn't feeling too well, and that after pitching well that game, most of what caused him to suffer the loss came because of his replacement.

For Baltimore, their recent injuries all affect their bullpen and two of the players are on the 60-day disabled list.

Projected starter Jeremy Guthrie, Adam Jones and Nick Markakis are the lone bright stars right now for the Orioles. Guthrie has pitched well of late, but neither Jones or Markakis have fared well against Braden, who statistically owns the whole team.

The A's have three pitchers on the 60-day disabled list, one a starter and one out for the rest of the season, all three dealing with elbow surgery.

Game notes: Oakland plays the Baltimore Orioles Tuesday at 4:05pm.
