The Oakland A’s concluded a 6 game home stand today. They split a 2 game series with the Boston Red Sox and a 4 game series with the Detroit Tigers. For the season, the A’s have won 9 games and lost 9 for a record of .500.
The A’s have excellent starting pitching, although Dallas Braden is on the shelf with a shoulder injury.
The A’s so far this season has had a blend of good pitching and so-so hitting. What has been lacking is good fielding. The A’s committed their 20th error of the season today and are leading the league in errors. Fans are not used to seeing the A’s beat themselves this way.
For this team to be successful, they will have to stop making errors and play defense as they did in the past.
They do not have the firepower to overcome defensive lapses that cost them games. Let’s hope the fielding improves and that the A’s can improve throughout the season.
