Tonight’s game marked the return of pitcher Justin Duchscherer to the A’s lineup after a layoff of nearly 18 months due to injuries. Duchsherer pitched fairly well for someone that had not played in such a long time. He threw 101 pitches in 5 2/3rds innings giving up 5 runs on 7 hits. It was a good outing given the circumstances. He left the game with the score in favor of the Mariners but will not get a decision as the A’s scored a run in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game at 5 .
Rookie Tyson Ross worked 2 1/3rd innings and was impressive giving up 1 hit and striking out 2 in his major league debut.
The game ended in the bottom of the 9th as Kurt Suzuki doubled off the left field wall to drive in the winning run giving the victory to the A’s for the second night in a row.
