U.S. teams look to empty out Fort Knox at Olympics

There is nothing like the Olympics it's the greatest thrill you get every four years and it has also become a great social event. The Olympics is the greatest sporting spectacle in this world. We are very happy that the Olympics is on the way and the U.S. is doing very well and it should be very exciting in these two weeks.

Mike Phelps is on his way and he's going to make Mark Spitz look like an amateur and Phelps looks like he's going to win all the gold in China. Phelps is a terrific swimmer and all the swimmers not only Mike Phelps and also Natalie Coughlin has won back to back 100 meter back strokes for the gold.

In the Men's gymnastics the U.S. team is doing very well. So the U.S. has a very good shot at beating the world in medals but China is the favorite because their playing there for the first time in China the largest country in the world and the opening ceremonies were watched by over a billion people.

The basketball game that was watched between the United States and China was the most watched sporting event in the history of the world with over 1 billion people watching. This is a crowd that drew a little more than what the Warriors and Comcast Sports can bring.

There are a little over 205 countries in Beijing participating in the Olympics and most of those over 200 countries have not born one medal. The country we saw in the opening ceremonies you need to Google them to find out where they are.

So this is a privilege for any country to win a medal, which is Bronze, Silver or Gold. It's the competition that the idea for the Olympics to hatched over 100 years ago in Greece. It's just the competition where the whole world gets together. We saw a Russian athlete woman and another athlete from Georgia were embracing with each other. Both countries are in the middle of a war and that's what makes the Olympics and that's why everybody gets along.

I always love this event every four years and I just hope there are no more incidents during the Olympics. So far things have been so good with a couple of things here and there and an American relative of the coach of the U.S. volleyball team was killed in an random act of violence. In the city of Beijing a city of over 50 million people has good people and should be safe.

So this Olympics has been special so far we have watched the U.S. volleyball team beat the Cuban team. But in indoor volleyball Cuba and some of the Hispanic teams defeated the Americans.

The Hispanic teams have played the U.S., Venezuela has played softball with the United States and they beat the U.S. Covering these teams for the Hispanic press would you feel very proud of these countries competing against all these other countries.

This is only good in Cuba and Venezuela, Mexico, Puerto Rico there are over 23 countries in Latin America. Take Brazil that's one of the largest countries in the world and they specialize of course in soccer.

For me I feel very proud to be a Hispanic especially when you have so many countries in the Olympics. No Olympics have ever been held in a Latin American country and it's about time for that to happen.

Canada, the United States, Italy, France, Japan, Korea, and now in China but never an Olympic contest has ever been held before in a Latin American country. So maybe the time has come maybe in the future, maybe a country as large as Brazil can have a shot. I'm sure there will be some organizing this event. So I look forward to see the day when a Latin American country can host the Olympics.

This Olympics will keep progressing and it'll probably be between the United States and China and it'll probably be China as they are the favorites to win more medals. The U.S. swimming team is incredible and I've never seen anything like it. This guy Phelps is a mega star and is known all over the world and he's on his way to grab more gold as we speak so congratulations to the United States, China, and to the other countries and we'll be talking more Olympics next week.
