SANTA CLARA--Anyone who watched last Sunday's game in Philadelphia knows that the San Francisco 49ers played some flat football it's a tough game on the road against a very good team. The Eagles have looked solid the last several weeks and they looked like a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs.
The Eagles have a good offense and a good defense with an experienced coach and an experienced team with experienced leaders, and with the crazy weather both teams are facing but weather that the 49ers are certainly unfamiliar with that big blizzard that went through they didn't have a lot of time to run through practice.
It was a difficult road trip all around plus they had the short week they played on Monday night so they didn't have the normal amount of time between games. The 49ers came out looking flat and they didn't look good, they made a lot of mistakes with stupid penalties, stupid turnovers, really just a bad game all around for the team they just didn't look like they were ready to go and part of that is on the staff and part of that is on the players.
It was a game that really was unfortunate because this loss ended the 49ers season with just two games to go but the Niners are eliminated from the playoffs so now they’re just playing out the string and hope to improve a little bit on last year going 8-8 to get to that .500 mark that's still disappointing they can't get over .500 they just didn't perform well it was very disappointing for anybody who is a 49ers fan because they looked so good in that game against Arizona.
The Cardinals were not a push over Arizona is a good team, they were in the Super Bowl last year. They have several all pro players and the 49ers played fantastic against them. Over the years the 49ers have been pushed around by the Eagles and anyone who knows the 49ers back in 1994 when the 49ers were on their way to the Super Bowl the Niners got hammered by the Eagles in Candlestick that was the famous 40-8 loss which Steve Young got pulled midway through the second half and had a shouting match with George Siefert on the sidelines.
The 49ers had a number of run-ins with the Eagles and they don't seem to turn out well for the 49ers this was not the best time for the 49ers to be playing Philadelphia. Unfortunately it ended in a loss and it kind of ended the 49ers playoff hopes, so the 49ers will have to end up evaluating their players even more right now to see where they're going to go and try to improve for next year.
