SAN FRANCISCO--The Arizona Cardinals having seven turnovers that doesn't happen by accident. When you have seven turnovers that means the defense is doing a great job and if you watched Monday's game you know the Niners put forth their best effort in the 24-9 victory in what was their best defensive effort of the year.
Remember this was the Cardinals, they have wide receivers Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald the best wide receivers in football. They have quarterback Kurt Warner whose one of the best quarterbacks and these guys did not get comfortable the entire game. The 49ers had great pressure on them and the defensive line kept the pressure up even when they weren't blitzing.
The 49ers cornerback and safeties did a great job covering players down field they stuffed the run game they were just everywhere, they were just flying to the ball and it could be easily the best game the defense has played all year. You’re going to hear head coach Mike Singletary in his press conference on Tuesday just singing the praises of this team.
The defense played fantastic and the offense played great except for when quarterback Alex Smith threw for two interceptions otherwise the 49ers offense did a great job of this game. This is really the best all around game the 49ers played this season just in terms of effort but the scheme was fantastic.
The people who watched the 49ers the last couple of weeks and noticed them running less and less and passing more and running that spread offense. They're trying to take advantage of Smith and had help from Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree, Jason Hill and Josh Morgan.
They switched it up, they did pass quite a bit and they definitely gave the ball to running back Frank Gore as much as they could. He had over 160 yards. They were tough, tough yards. They were all on one or two big plays, there were on lots and lots of plays. Gore was averaging 6.7 yards per carry.
Gore had a couple of 30 yard runs and a lot of good tough five yard carries for first downs and as well on second down and they really just played a fantastic game. Smith he did a great job taking care of the football and had that touchdown pass to Davis in the first half and another pass to Crabtree which was a thing of beauty to watch as he fought off defenders and found his way into the end zone.
It was not only a fantastic game but it was the 49ers best effort this year. Every facet of the game was dominated on the 49ers end. Arizona looked confused, they looked befuddled, they just didn't know to do against this 49ers team and let’s give the Niners credit. They won three in a row over the Cardinals and most teams would have trouble winning one game against the Cardinals.
The Cardinals are the defending NFC Champs, they're one of the better teams in the NFC and the 49ers made them look silly on Monday Night Football. They made them look like the 49ers were the team to beat not the Cardinals.
So the Niners clearly had the Cardinals number and let's give credit where it's due the Niners had a great football game, Singletary defensive coordinator Greg Munusky, offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye they all had a great game plan for the offense and the defense and this is one to savor because the 49ers beat the best team in the NFC West and the Niners can hold their head up high.
