SANTA CLARA--The dropped ball by 49ers running back Frank Gore was one of the biggest plays in the game and you have to say that there were a lot of little plays involved that contributed to the 49ers loss last Sunday in Seattle.
There was a fumble on the punt return where they tried to do a reverse, there was Gore dropping the ball, there were some unusual plays and calls late in the game and with the game tied with 1:30 left on third and short the 49ers went deep instead of going for the first down.
The team just made it more difficult on themselves and they punted the ball away and gave Seattle a chance to kick the ball in field goal range. This was a disappointing game, the 49ers seem to be doing okay and they just kind of dropped it, literally and figuratively. They were fumbling and dropping passes and nothing was really working the way it should have.
It's not known if that was a function of the weather or the lack of concentration by the Niners or the crowd in Seattle who played well as the 12th man it's tough to say. This was a very disappointing game because it was a game the 49ers should have won. They're clearly a better team, they just didn't put it all together when they needed to.
Seattle is not a good team this year but they certainly are not push overs. There are very few teams in the NFL these days that are push overs unless you’re playing Cleveland you’re not going to see any push overs. It's rough the 49ers went in this season thinking they had a shot, especially at making the playoffs and in the game against Arizona next Monday night with a fairly easy schedule down the stretch.
This is a game that they should have won and easily and they didn't pull it out and it's disappointing not just because they didn't win but because they should have and they kind of lost it more than Seattle wanted it. The 49ers gave this game to Seattle more than Seattle was able to take it to the 49ers.
Nobody earned a win in this game, the 49ers found a way to lose which is always disappointing. In the end you have to look at this 49ers team and honestly this is just an average team. They have some talented players and there are some guys that you look forward to watching like Vernon Davis, Michael Lewis, Michael Crabtree these are all guys to build around.
49ers hosting on Monday Night: There is nothing like playing on Monday night and it gets the adrenaline pumping. There is a little added pressure you want to prove yourself to that national audience. Especially against a good team like Arizona and the 49ers considering how they struggled in the last game the 49ers want to prove that they are at least a team to contend with that their not push overs.
Arizona already knows that and the Cardinals are not going to take the 49ers lightly especially after the 49ers beat them in the opening game of the season. The 49ers and Cardinals they know each and they aren't going to underestimate each other.
There are fans out there who look at the 49ers who say their just another weak team in a lousy division. The Niners have some talented players and their not as bad as St.Louis, Detroit, Cleveland, and the 49ers are better than that and a couple balls that bounce in their direction their season could be going a lot better.
The Niners want to prove themselves they want to show the world that they have some talent on their team and a Monday night game is where you prove it and at the same time you got to prove some stuff to yourself. Head coach Mike Singletary has to see how these guys perform under the lights in prime time.
Great America suing Santa Clara for great amount: Cedar Fair Parks which owns Great America in Santa Clara are suing the City of Santa Clara saying that the city of Santa Clara should have come to an agreement with the Niners regarding a environmental impact report before coming to an agreement.
The 49ers intend to play on Great America property and that Cedar Fair says the agreement is illegal and that the city never approved an environmental impact report that was legal and the current report was agreed upon by both the Niners and the city in June 2009.
The non binding terms include $114 million in public funds which there is a campaign in Santa Clara trying to show voters that public money should not be used in the stadium project for the 49ers. Cedar Fair said that they were not part of the agreement and the agreement was only made between the team and the city.
Santa Clara city manager Jennifer Sparacino said that the City and Cedar Fair will try and work out their differences on the environmental impact issue and get the 49ers on the road to getting their stadium built.
The Santa Clara City council voted on Tuesday to get the environmental report on a draft so it can be prepared for the voters for the stadium project in the March 2010 election.
